The Read/Write Web

Overview

In chapter one of his book Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms, Will Richardson discusses how the web has changed from just a read resource to both a read and write resource. Among the many myriad tools Mr. Richardson defines is the one major resource people use to contribute information or news to the web: blogs. The web has come alive as people have begun to publish their own ideas and feedback. Many fields have been impacted.

Heat and Water Dilemma

I live in a predominately wood-burning community that has ready access to a sawmill featuring many kinds of wood products, including firewood. Most houses are equipped with barrel stoves. While these provide a very comforting heat, there are some (myself included) who are adversely affected by the creosote and smoke pollution. Since wood heat is much cheaper than the alternatives, it is something I have been willing to put up with. But what if there is a cleaner source of heat? What if there is a heat source that will not irritate lungs and sinuses or pollute the atmosphere?
